At the End of the Day

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“I just got off of I-10 at Baldwin.  I should be home in an hour or so.” 

It had been a long drive, but our son’s voice seemed energized and enthusiastic.  Nathan had just called as he was driving home from Duke University for the Christmas break, to update us on the progress of his journey. (more…)

Tee It Up–Again

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…


Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah!  For the Lord God Almighty reigns.”

To the casual observer it was just golf.  But it was really so much more.  It was an unbelievable moment in golfing lore, which served to point us outside of ourselves, remind us of things we yet want to do, and expand our vision of our lives beyond the obstacles present into all the possibilities which remain. It’s that feeling you had at the instant your eyes opened today to let in the sunshine of a new morning.  It’s the same feeling you have in that first instant each morning—almost every day of your life—before your mind starts down the list of all the reasons for busyness or concern for the day. Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

Rainy days seem to bring out that reflective spirit that dwells within all of us—at least they do that for me.  Today seems to be no exception, as I sit here, with the rain falling softly outside my window, reflecting again upon something which I really don’t like to think about…
