What, Me Worry?

Dear friends, today, I have asked a guest contributor—who is no stranger to you—to share some thoughts with you. Thank you Nathan for this moment.

What, Me Worry?

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

– Matthew 6:25-27, New Living Translation

I don’t wake up early EVERY morning at 3 a.m. with something on my mind. Just sometimes, or if I’m on a roll, I can set a pretty good streak. And I don’t think that I’m alone, judging by the sleep aids on the market. (more…)

Time to Turn with Courage to Him

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“…if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

II Chronicles 7: 14 (NIV)

We watch television reports stunned and dismayed. We feel confused and angry as we listen to way too many accounts of the horrific shootings in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado which occurred early Friday morning a few days ago, leaving twelve dead and many more injured. (more…)

Risk—God’s Way

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you—

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

James 4: 13-15 (NIV)

I took a big one last week riding with some of my family on a Universal Studios’ roller-coaster ride appropriately named the Rip Ride Rockit. One time was good enough. Been there–done that. Nothing more for me to prove. And no need to tempt the nuts & bolts holding the ride together, which remained sufficiently fastened until the end of our ride.

Risk. (more…)

Choices—Priorities, Pathways & Memories

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind…I made my works great, built myself houses…gardens and orchards…I also gathered for myself silver and gold…I became great and excelled more than all who were before me…

I have no pleasure in them…Vanity of vanities…all is vanity.”

Ecclesiastes, Chapters 1-12 (NKJV)

Quietly now, let her sleep. She was up late last night with the adrenaline of anticipation of this day—today—coursing through heavy flickering eyelids.

Today she turns thirteen. Where have the years gone? (more…)

Archives of Sacrifice—The Stars Danced

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

When America was created the stars must have danced in the sky.”

Bernard DeNoto, Historian

From where I stood, he seemed to be an ordinary fellow. He must have done this a thousand times before, I thought, yet the passion in his voice was fresh and new as he read from the original document before us— (more…)
